2012 – ICE raid at Rolando’s workplace in West Texas; he is detained and placed into immigration proceedings.
February 22, 2012 – Rolando is released from ICE custody after his family posts a $5,000 immigration bond.
2013–2020 – Rolando repeatedly renews his work authorization, remains employed, and continues supporting his family in Texas while his case moves through the courts.
January 30, 2019 – Rolando files an appeal of a removal order, keeping his case active before the immigration courts.
August–September 2024 – Rolando applies for a Stay of Deportation; ICE later rejects the request, citing documentation issues.
February 2024 –July 2026 – Rolando complies with ICE check-ins while his son begins the process of joining the U.S. military, a step connected to a possible Parole in Place (PIP) path.
July 9, 2026 — Detention in Houston
After consistently attending his required ICE reporting appointments for years, Rolando appeared for another scheduled check-in in Houston. He was detained without prior notice and transported to Montgomery Processing Center.
July 15–16, 2026 — Transfer to Port Isabel
Rolando’s transfer from Montgomery began on July 15, before his attorney was able to meet with him. His location at Port Isabel Detention Center was confirmed on July 16.
July 18–19, 2026 — Removal to Mexico
On July 18, Rolando’s family drove approximately six hours to visit him at Port Isabel. Early the following morning, he disappeared from the ICE detainee locator. The family later learned that he had been transported by airplane and removed to Tapachula, Chiapas, near Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala.
